During last Saturday’s afternoon game played at Oriole Park at Camden Yards I was postioned perfectly to snap a quick photo of the crowd just before we rose for the Star-Spangled Banner, a moment of reflection on a pleasantly warm summer day:
Matt Wieters did not start at catcher but pleased the crowd, shown here applauding from deep left field, as he swung for the game winning walk-off RBI!
It’s fairly difficult to use the iPhone screen as a camera viewfinder due to the overwhelming glare but I was at least able to capture and edit two nice views of a fun weekend.
Nos Sunt Unum!
We are one!
Last night’s 2-0 triumph of the USMNT over Mexico in their World Cup qualifying match provided an evening of celebration leading up to today, during which the nation finds itself gripped by somber feelings of remembrance. At Philadelphia Union soccer matches I often see flags like the one I’ve depicted above in this quick sketch. The raucous crowd at matches often evokes a joyous, spirited sense of communtiy tinged with feelings of patriotism. I don’t know what is going on with the sudden inability to tweet images conveniently but I’ve chosen also to display the flag here in the blog, and maybe I will fly one if we go to the play-offs!
